What's Going On in May 2018
MAY BISHOP'S COMMITTEE NEWS
The bishop's committee met May 13 to review past projects and plan for future worship opportunities and ministries.
The next BC meeting is scheduled for June 10, following our Sunday Eucharist. All are welcome!
THE BOOK OF JOY
This summer Vicar Jo is inviting our community to read The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. The book explores true, lasting joy from both the Christian and Buddhist tradition. The link above will take you to the Amazon page, but it is also available pretty widely at local book shops and most library systems!
Since we are in the green growing season after Pentecost, Vicar Jo encourages us to each grow joy by sharing this book with others.
- Form a book group with some friends and read it together.
- Challenge a coworker or friend to read and discuss the book over lunch once a week.
- Listen to the audio book with your carpool.
- Far flung family? Get them to read the book and check in with each other about what it brings up!
Whatever you do to grow joy this summer I hope you'll invite those you interact with to our wrap-up BBQ on August 22nd
WORSHIP LEADERS BREAKFAST
The next Worship Leaders meeting will be on 7 July at 9:00 am. We will celebrate Morning Prayer, then have a discussion on celebrating ministry. All are welcome!
CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY
Bishop Greg Rickel will officiate at a Celebration of New Ministry to officially welcome Jo Robertson as Vicar of All Saints, Bellevue at 6:30pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. The Reverend Danae Ashley will preach. Please join us as we celebrate the continuation of our ministry on the Eastside.
STRENGTH to STRENGTH
Bishop Greg has put together a conference meant to bring together churches of like size to learn how we can be our most healthy, and how we can share the Gospel right where we are. We're looking for members interested in going and joining the discussion. The conference runs in early October, more details coming soon.
Thanks to Miriam for putting up a sign-up chart for feeding kids at the Landing. The next open date is November, 2018.
